Mt. Daisen Summer Opening Festival is held for 2 days in the first weekend of June. The festival is to celebrate the oncoming of summer to the mountain. At first night of the festival, more than 2,000 locals join the torch parade, and make a fantastic line at the stone-flagged approach of the Ogamiyama shrine. The parade usually starts from 19:30. Time may change without notice, so please confirm in advance. You are welcome to join the parade. A torch with a small gift is 500 yen on a first-come-first-served basis.

In the early morning of the second day of the festival, a ceremony is held at the summit of Mt. Daisen. If you want to join the early-morning climbing and the ceremony, please apply in advance. The climbing starts from 5:30 in the morning.
