Established in 1999, Shimane Art Museum is one of the largest museums in San'in region. As the concept of the museums is the harmony with water, the museum exhibits a lot of art works related with water.
The museum is located on the south-eastern coast of Lake Shinji, which is the best location for magnificent sunset viewing. The west side of the museum is full-height glazing so that visitors are able to enjoy the sunset.
