The beech forest in Mt. Daisen is one of the largest in the western Japan. Mt. Daisen has been worshiped as a god since long ago, and flourished as a holy place for shugendo training. That's why there remains the large beech forest even today. The beech forest, known for its power to retain water and even referred to as the "Green Dam," sustain a variety of wild animals and provide us clean water.
